Should copyright laws be stricter, or be subject to change?
Copyright laws should be subject to change. Many things for copyright, I agree with, and more things I do not agree with. Copyright is the exclusive legal right, given to an originator or an assignee to print, publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic, or musical material, and to authorize others to do the same. I agree that copyright should be kept, but changed. Point one: you only have so many creative ideas, but in the end, someone else already came up with it. “This is not to suggest that the case doesn't deserve to be brought -- just that copyright law sees the creative process differently. It venerates ownership as a goad to creativity, and grants ownership to whomever was "first." Because originality is a rather difficult thing to establish, court decisions can seem subjective, claims opportunistic.” says Fred Goodman. Here, he states that people are seen as “bad” if they create something original ,but it’s a repetition of another song that has been made before. These issues also affect schools. Teachers must first get permission from a person who made the work the teacher wants to teach, before they teach it to their students. Copying and using selected parts of copyrighted works for educational purposes qualifies under Fair Use. Creative commons relates to this in many ways. People should be able to work on others work, to make it better. That is a big bonus because the person who reads the work, gets ideas to make it better. Then the person who originally made it, can look at it and get even more ideas. It’s an endless cycle of ideas and making things better/more accurate than they were before. It could be titled as someone’s work, but the creator gives permission for another creator to call it theirs, as long as they share alike. In conclusion, copyright should be kept, but altered so that there isn’t as much trouble to get into with creating original content. My first book is Blackout by John Rocco. This book is a window for me. Nature should be enjoyed. I shouldn't always be on my devices, and have conversations with others. My second book is The Right Word: Roget and His Thesaurus by Jen Bryant and Jennifer Bryant. Reading expanded my vocabulary. My third book is Picture Me Gone by Meg Rosoff. I have photographic deja vu, thats how i related to the book, and could see myself as the main character. In the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AAu58SNSyc&t=7s
I disagree with the banning/ and or restricting of books. I understand that some people complain about the books topic, but the author chose to write it because it's their job. They make money off of selling their books. The responsibilities of libraries/librarians have in regard to challenged books are quite simple. libraries/ librarians are required to give intellectual freedom. They are supposed to see from all points of view and respect them. This is why library’s restrict or ban books.
